Tate & Lyle

Tate & Lyle have been refining cane sugar in east London since 1878.

Tate & Lyle aim to become the most ethical and sustainable cane sugar refiner in the world and will be carbon neutral in the UK by 2040 (in scope 1 & 2 emissions) and net zero across their scope 3 value chain by 2050.

In the short to mid-term, they will do this through a combination of operational efficiency projects, changing their energy mix through an increasing use of renewable fuels and transitioning their vehicle fleet to alternative energy sources.

They are working to implement emissions reduction, sequestration, or reuse technologies and are keeping a keen eye on developing innovations.  They are also actively benchmarking their performance against other manufacturers in the sector and leverage best practice and programme successes across their parent company, ASR Group. 

 

In the mid to long-term they will reach net zero by switching entirely to renewable and non-emitting fuels using technology which is not yet available at scale.
